A Spirometer is medical equipment which is used for measuring the volume of air enthused and expired by the lungs. It is an accurate differential pressure transducer for the measurements of the act of breathing air in and out flow rates. The spirometer records the quantity of air and the speed of air that is respiring in and out over a particular time. The Spirometer and attached flow head function together as a pneumotachometer, with an output indication comparative to airflow.
It was imaginary by John Hutchinson in 1846. The output produced by a spirometer is called a kymograph trace.
Spirometry is executed under a variety of situations with the patient inhalation into a tube closed joint to the machine, which determines the amount of air the lungs can hold and the velocity that air can be breathe in and breathe out. The results of the test are evaluated with those of healthy persons of equal height and age, and of the same sex and contest. Patients can also undergo exercise pressure tests with spirometry readings taken before and after a time of exercise. In addition, some tests may absorb a bronchodilator before a spirometry reading. Gas dispersal tests calculate how well oxygen and other gases bypass through the lungs air sac and get engrossed by the blood.
Features:
• Custom Microsoft Windows software for displaying, storing, and reviewing data.
• Monitor is fully functional as a stand-alone device. LCD screen displays waveform and parameter data in real time.
• Embedded microprocessor calculates flow rate and provides correction for gas density, viscosity, temperature, barometric pressure, and airway pressure.
• Calculates over 15 ventilatory parameters.
• Integrated breath detection algorithm automatically detects start and end of breath.
• Custom fixed-orifice, differential pressure pneumotachs require no user calibration and remain accurate even under extreme clinical conditions.
• Built-in calibration functions for linear fleisch pneumotachs. Calibration stored in non-volatile memory.
• Serial RS232 and analog outputs provided for simple computerized data collection.
