Capping machines are devices used to secure caps onto bottles and drums. There are three main types of capping machines, manual cappers, semi-automatic cappers and automatic capping machines. To determine the best type of capper for the application, it is important to take into account the style of cap being applied and the rate at which capping must take place.
Capping machine that operates in a manual or semi-automatic configuration for sealing bottles and containers with closures of various shapes and sizes.
Manual capping machines are generally handheld, portable, overhead capping machines. The operator places the cap on the container and then applies the capping machine to the cap, tightening it. Manual cappers are available that function via electric, pneumatic or inertial power.
Semi-automatic capping machines require the operator to place the cap on the container prior to tightening. The capper then either screws the cap on, or creates a seal by rotating the container around a solid rail.
Caps are closures used to hold contents inside a container. They come in many colors, shapes and forms; usually with an internal thread, which must match the container neck. While there are too many styles to list, they can be subdivided into generalized groupings, as they relate to capping machines. These include corks and plugs, child resistant caps, crimp flutes, lugs, press on, screw, and tamper proof.
Automatic capping machines both place the cap on the container and then screw it on or seal it to the container. An operator may be necessary to oversee the operator, but he or she does not need to be actively involved in the capping process.
According to manufactures a wide variety of capping equipment to secure most cap types onto a wide assortment of bottle types. The latest Capping machines utilize the latest technologies to achieve the highest speeds and most accurately capped bottles on the market. Three different styles of capping systems are available: Chuck Cappers, Spindle Cappers and Snap Cappers. Many capping machinery is available from a single head hand held chuck capper for low speed capping all the way up to a high speed 30 head rotary chuck capping system.
Capping Cappers: The Chuck Cappers can place and torque flat caps, oval caps, flip top caps, pull spouts, safety caps, child proof caps, sport caps, and caps with over-caps or induction seals. The Chuck Cappers can handle almost any bottle type or shape including PET, PP, PVC, HDPE, LDPE, and Glass.
CHUCK CAPPERS: The Chuck Cappers can place and torque flat caps, oval caps, flip top caps, pull spouts, safety caps, child proof caps, sport caps, and caps with over-caps or induction seals. Automatic star wheel indexing chuck capper sorts caps, feeds them onto containers via a chute and tightens them down with downward top pressure.
Key Features: Air driven with adjustable air pressure regulator, Brushed aluminum chuck with rubber insert, Works with caps from 10mm to 90mm, Retractable take up wheel, Heavy duty stainless steel leveling legs.
SNAP CAPPERS: The Snap Capper can place and snap down flat caps, oval caps, safety caps, child proof caps, or with over-caps or induction seals. The Snap Capper can handle almost any bottle type or shape including PET, PP, PVC, HDPE, LDPE, and Glass.
SPINDLE CAPPERS: The Spindle Cappers can place and torque flat caps, oval caps, flip top caps, pull spouts, safety caps, child proof caps, sport caps, and caps with over-caps or induction seals.
Spindle Cap Tightened: They are two types; automatic and semi automated. Spindle cap tightened receives bottles with hand placed caps and automatically tightens caps. Gripper side belts and cap stabilizer hold caps and bottles in place while rubberized tightening discs (spindles) contact cap on opposite sides and spin cap down. Clutches allow just the right torque on caps. Bottles do not stop during the continuous operation of tightening.
Capping is usually the most difficult aspect of a packaging line for several reasons. Sometimes the range of geometries and sizes of caps and bottles is so wide that the capping machine components become expensive or the platform of the machine is not suitable for all sizes in the range. Sometimes the bottle and cap combination are not ideal with the threads of the bottle being in conflict with the threads of the cap.
